The prenatal yoga class helped create a sense of calm in me that I sincerely believe transferred to my baby. The emphasis on breathing also worked perfectly to lay the foundation for lamaze classes. I particularly enjoyed the chanting we did. I have continued doing the chanting to my baby when she is fussy because she seems to recognize it and it is soothing to her.....and me.

My miracle yoga baby arrived before the birthing team! Satya Mae had the most peaceful entry into the world, being born in the water. Her journey did not take long, and it was hugely attributed to the amount of yoga that done before, and during my pregnancy.

I did not 'officially' know I was in labor until 12:30 in the afternoon, and prior to that, started to not feel well around 11:30. Not knowing really what was going on, I naturally went into the bathtub to alleviate the discomfort I was experiencing. By about 12:45 or so, my doula was working with me to keep me focused and the baby's daddy was telling the midwife to drop everything and get to the house while he filled the birthing pool. With no time to spare, the midwife showed up to the house to announce that I was fully dilated and just as the pool was finished being filled I moved into it to labor for about 15 min or so. The 15 minutes did not occur like a picnic at the time, but looking back, I have nothing to add or change to how it all happened. By 2:15 I found myself squatting like the mother of the universe, and in no time heard the midwife say, "Sumati, reach down and pick up your baby." Without hesitation, I brought this sweet little being up to the surface and we just gazed at each other for a while. Suddenly we went from being 4 in the room, to now being 5. For Satya, she entered this world in such a peaceful way, I couldn't ask for anything more. No cries, nothing traumatic...I was the only one crying.

She's content, easeful, alert, and very at peace with her environment. From the moment she was born she was receptive to chanting and very strong in body, mind and spirit.
